How will the mind become quiescent? - Sri Ramana Maharshi
Question: How will the mind become quiescent?
Bhagavan: By the enquiry ‘Who am I’. The thought ‘Who am I?’ will destroy all other thoughts, and like the stick used for stirring the burning pyre, it will itself in the end get destroyed. Then, there will arise Self-realisation.

TTC December 2008
We're very pleased to display our recent graduates of the International Teacher's Training programme. We had 67 students join us and graduate the programme with flying colours. Falling over Christmas, we took the opportunity to invite Santa to the ashram with students singing carols from around the world and celebrate with a wonderful feast and some wonderful not so sattvic chocolate cake!
What is the nature of the mind? - Sri Ramana Maharshi
Question: What is the nature of the mind?
Bhagavan: What is called ‘mind’ is a wondrous power residing in the Self. It causes all thoughts to arise. Apart from thoughts, there is no such thing as mind. Therefore, thought is the nature of mind.
When one persistently inquires into the nature of the mind, the mind will end leaving the Self (as the residue). What is referred to as the Self is the Atman. The mind always exists only in dependence on something gross; it cannot stay alone. It is the mind that is called the subtle body or the soul (jiva).

What is Life by Swami Sivananda
What is Life?
Life is a duty - perform it,
Life is a game - play it,
Life is a mystery - unfold it,
Lie is a song - sing it,
Life is a journey - complete it,
Life is a promise - fulfill it,
Life is a love - enjoy it,
Life is a beauty - praise it,
Life is a spirit - realise it,
Life is a challenge - meet it,
Life is a gift - accept it,
Life is an opportunity - take it,
Life is an adventure - dare it,
Life is a sorrow - overcome it,
Life is a tragedy - face it,
Life is a struggle - fight it,
Life is a puzzle - solve it,
Life is a goal - achieve it,
The salt of life is selfless service, the bread of life is universal love, the water of life is purity, the goal of life is self-realisation.

Who Am I? - Sri Ramana Maharshi
As all living beings desire to be happy always, without misery, as in the case of everyone there is observed supreme love for one’s self, and as happiness alone is the cause for love, in order to gain that happiness which is one’s nature and which is experienced in the state of deep sleep where there is no mind, one should know one’s Self. For that, the path of knowledge, the enquiry of the form ‘Who am I’, is the principal means.
